TransBucket was invented and designed between June-July 2009 after the unfortunate demise of transster, a surgery photosharing website exclusively for FTMs. Our vision was to create a site that would be a health care and surgery resource for the entire online trans community, from ftms to mtfs to genderqueers, allies, and everyone else who could benefit from knowing what's out there. We also have incorporated a forum feature and are constantly working to adapt the site to the needs and wishes of the individuals using it.
The name "transbucket" was created very late at night, and is supposed to be a play off of a popular photo uploading and sharing site online.
Ryan is a barista and aspiring online bookseller who enjoys singing, movie watching, cooking tofu dishes, and law & order svu. He graduated from smith college in 2009 with a psychology degree and is currently contemplating the pros and cons of both business school and a masters degree in social work. He edits Boston's "Queer Agenda," an events list for the Boston area with a readership of 3000+, and spends an obscene amount of time reading livejournal and a number of other social network and blogging sites. He has done research in both psychology and social work, some of which is published in a couple of anthologies and textbooks.
Ryan does the content, moderates images and uploads, and attempts to get the word out about the site. He can answer most of your questions, but will send suggestions for programming and site features to his room mate, the fantastic and wonderfully talented Kit Wilde. Ryan can be contacted at webmaster@transbucket.com.
Kit is a computer science graduate student and operations manager by day, and a dancing, singing, and acting fiend by night. He can be seen performing in Boston's Big Moves troupe at their burlesque shows and large musical numbers, as well as directing summer camps and creating robots of all shapes and sizes as part of his research. He has been published in CS journals and has had his papers presented at conferences from the US all the way to Asia, and has created websites for a number of businesses across Massachusetts.
Kit does all of the coding and programming for Transbucket. If you have ideas, comments, suggestions, critiques or praise related to some of the features (or lack thereof!) on the site, contact Kit at admin@transbucket.com.
Thanks to everyone who has helped us as we continue to work on TransBucket!
